In Broken Social Scene‘s new MAKAPOON-directed clip for “Forced to Love,” the Canadian supergroup turn into sci-fi-y holograms in a museum exhibit. Absolute destruction ensues and then trees start growing. “Forced to Love” is off Forgiveness Rock Record, which is out now via Arts&Crafts. MAKAPOON is Adam Makarenko & Alan Poon. The vid’s production credits go to Vision Entertainment’s Geoff McLean.
The seventh sequential track features Tucker’s folksy set in relief against, organ, handclaps, and some meat-and-potatoes electric guitar. Tucker will hit the road this fall. Check out those dates here. The trek is so short due to Tucker’s two day jobs: raising her two children with filmmaker Lance Bangs, and running a website for her father’s business. (Via P4k.)
Stereogum debuted the LP’s penultimate song, “Eden Prison,” earlier this week, and The Quietus put up a SoundCloud of the track. Listen to it below. “Eden Prison” is six minutes of noisy and droned-out guitar blasts, with Gira’s apocalyptic vocals floating above the destruction.
Earlier this week, NYC gloom-mongers Interpol brought second single, “Barricade,” to the Late Show with David Letterman. They were without bassist Carlos Dengler, but added temporary live members, Dave Pajo (bass) and Brandon Curtis (keyboards). Pretty standard indie-rock stuff here.
Interpol drops their fourth, self-titled LP on September 7, via Matador. Embrace the melodrama above. Live dates can be found here. Also, stream “Memory Serves” here and download “Lights” (first single) here.
Clogs: “Last Song” Video
The elegant acoustic tune, “Last Song” is on this year’s Clogs’ The Creatures in the Garden of Lady Walton and the Last Song EP. The latter is a download-only single that pairs the sparse track alongside two unreleased B-sides. For the uninitiated, the chamber-pop group features Bryce Dessner and longtime National cohort, Padma Newsome.
Watch the haunting video for “Last Song” below. The song features Matt Berninger’s inimitable baritone. The directors of the clip are twins (Benjamin and Stefan Remirez-Perez), who are “studying film and animation at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, Germany and the Vancouver School’s Digital Design program, respectively.” The Last Song EP is out August 3 via Brassland. Lady Walton is out now. (Via P4k.tv)

Check out “Coquet Coquette” below and “Sex Karma” above. See fall tour dates here. False Priest drops September 14 via Polyvinyl.
An ‘80s new-wave cut through and through. Also, absolutely love the “big talent” and “muscle cars” comments from the creepy interviewer. Check out the Brooklyn musician’s live dates at his MySpace. Forget comes out September 28 via Terrible.
Murder Mystery
“Change My Mind” MP3
Jul 29, 2010
Here are two new tracks from Stuart Murdoch-approved, New York indie-pop quartet Murder Mystery. They released their promising self-released debut, Are You Ready for the Heartache Cause Here it Comes in 2007 and are slowly working on its follow-up. The new cuts have a synthy flair to them. One, titled ”I Am (If You Are),” is the debut lead vocal performance of the group’s drummer and frontman Jeremy Coleman’s sister, Laura.
The other summery tune is entitled, “Change My Mind,” and according to the band it “combines the instantly accessible song craft of The Cure and Belle & Sebastian with the warm, bouncy synths of Aphex Twin’s Ambient Works.” Download “Change My Mind” above. Check for upcoming shows here when they get scheduled.
