MONEY
British trio MONEY have announced their sophomore album and shared its first song. Suicide Songs is the follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed debut album, The Shadow of Heaven (which was released in the U.S. in 2014). It’s due out January 29 via Bella Union. Below you can listen to the lengthily titled first single, “You Look Like a Sad Painting on Both Sides of the Sky.”

CHVRCHES
Scottish electro-pop trio CHVRCHES performed at Nashville, TN’s Marathon Music Works last night. Paramore’s Hayley Williams joined them onstage as a special guest to help sing “Bury It,” a track from CHVRCHES’ well-received second album, Every Open Eye, which is out now via Glassnote.

Blood Orange
Blood Orange (aka Dev Hynes) has shared a brand new song, “Sandra’s Smile.” The song is inspired by Sandra Bland, the woman who died in police custody in Texas back in July. She was founded hanged in her jail cell, but some have questioned the events of her death.

Joanna Newsom released Divers, her long-awaited new album (her first in five years, since 2010’s Have One on Me), last Friday via Drag City. Also last week the video for the album’s title track, “Divers,” screened in select movie theaters. Now the video has been posted to YouTube for all to see and you can watch it below. Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood) directed the 7-minute long clip.

The National’s frontman Matt Berninger has teamed up with former Menomena member Brent Knopf (who also records as Ramona Falls) for the new project EL VY. The duo will be releasing their debut album as EL VY, Return to the Moon, this Friday (October 30) via 4AD. Today they have shared another single for it, “Need a Friend,” via its lyric video.

David Bowie
Over the weekend The Times of London reported that David Bowie would be releasing a brand new album in January and Bowie has since confirmed the news. The 7-song LP is entitled Blackstar and is due out January 8, 2016 (which is Bowie’s birthday). It was recorded at the Magic Shop studio in New York with local jazz musicians.
