As if this year’s All Tomorrow’s Parties (ATP) Festival in New York weren’t enough of a draw with co-curation being handled by The Flaming Lips, ATP has gone ahead and announced new acts for the 2009 lineup. Iron & Wine, Deerhunter, Boss Hog, No Age, Boredoms, Deerhoof, Caribou, and Bridezilla added to the lineup.

Last night, as The Dears prepared to embark on a six-week North American tour, the band’s tour bus was stolen. The vehicle disappeared from the parking lot of the 700 blvd St. Jean Pointe-Claire Comfort Inn as the driver slept in the hotel.

The Fiery Furnaces
Brother-sister duo Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger return with their 8th album, I’m Going Away, to be released by Thrill Jockey on July 21st. The album was produced by Matthew and recorded and mixed by Sebadoh’s Jason Loewenstein, who also plays bass guitar on the record and has performed with the band since 2005. Drummer Robert D’Amico has also been playing with the band since ‘05. This time around Matthew wrote the majority of the music and Eleanor wrote most of the lyrics.

Coachella 2009 Day Three
On day three of Coachella My Bloody Valentine threatened to burst a thousand eardrums. As we entered the festival site around 12:30 PM they were handing out complimentary earplugs in anticipation for the aural attack. Other highlights included a blood-splattered Fucked Up, an energetic Friendly Fires, and the incredibly strange Throbbing Gristle.
