Robyn is releasing a new album, Honey, her first in eight years, tomorrow (October 26) via Konichiwa/Interscope. Now she has shared one last pre-release single from it, “Human Being,” which features Zhala. It was shared via Adult Swim’s Singles Program. Listen below.
Honey includes “Missing U,” a new song (and accompanying short film) she shared in August. An earlier version of the album’s title track, “Honey,” appeared in the series finale of HBO’s Girls last year and then she shared the final version of the song as the album’s second single. Robyn fans had been eager for her to release the song ever since its Girls debut, with some using the hashtag #ReleaseHoneyDamnit.
Honey is the follow-up to 2010’s Body Talk. The album finds the Swedish musician teaming up Joseph Mount (of Metronomy) and also features production work from long-time collaborator Klas Åhlund, along with Adam Bainbridge (aka Kindness), Mr. Tophat, and Zhala. It was recorded in studios in Stockholm, London, Paris, New York, and Ibiza. “Missing U” was previously one of our Songs of the Week.
Robyn had this to say about the album in a previous press release: “This sweet place, like a very soft ecstasy. Something that’s so sensual, and so good. I danced a lot when I was making it. I found a sensuality and a softness that I don’t think I was able to use in the same way before. Everything just became softer.”
