In early May 2026, Cameron Lew—better known as Ginger Root—made a highly talked-about surprise appearance in Tokyo’s bustling Shibuya district. Performing under the alternate moniker Cheng Ep, Lew delivered a special DJ set at the iconic club bar FAMILY as part of the venue’s 30th-anniversary celebrations.

A cornerstone of Tokyo’s nightlife since 1996, FAMILY has long been a vital hub for the local hip-hop and dance scenes. The intimate evening featured music curated by the Japanese music media outlet 漂流音楽, offering a unique, close-up experience with the artist. For fans hoping to catch Ginger Root’s signature live sound during his ongoing international tour, he is slated to return to Shibuya in June 2026 for a massive headlining set at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium.
