Sheryl Crow
Sheryl Crow has shared a brand new song, “Wouldn’t Want to Be Like You,” that features St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark). While the collaboration may seem a bit unlikely, the two met at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit show, where they performed Crow’s “Riverwide” together. Crow approached Clark to collaborate on the song and bring her “St. Vincent-ness” to it and Clark responded favorably.

Iggy Pop
Last month iconic British dance duo Underworld (Karl Hyde and Rick Smith) teamed up with Iggy Pop for a 7-minute new song, “Bells & Circles” (which was one of our Songs of the Week). Now the collaborative trio have announced a new four song EP, Teatime Dub Encounters, which includes “Bells & Circles,” and have shared another song from it, “I’ll See Big.”

There is an interesting debate going on within the Jazz world about Kamasi Washington, the current crossover wunderkind who is achieving major attention from more traditionally “indie-rock” crowds. On the one hand, from his work with Kendrick Lamar and the Brainfeeder label, he is bringing a wider audience to jazz, a genre that has historically gone misunderstood or mistrusted.

Tomberlin
Tomberlin is the project of Sarah Beth Tomberlin. Her debut album, At Weddings, is due out August 10 via Saddle Creek. Previously she shared a video for its first single, “Self-Help” (which was one of our Songs of the Week). Now she has shared another song from the album, “Seventeen,” via its video. Zach Xanders directed the video, which features the singer driving around a small town and hanging out in the country and at a graveyard.
