Tom Petty, the singer/songwriter/guitarist who found success in the 1970s and 1980s with his band as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, died Monday night after suffering cardiac arrest Sunday night in his home in Malibu, Los Angeles. At Coldplay’s concert at Portland, OR’s Moda Center last night the band, alongside special guest Peter Buck of R.E.M., took a minute of silence for Petty before covering his 1989 hit “Free Fallin’.” More
