Fiery Furnaces' Matthew Friedberger Probably Won't Like It
Nov 18, 2009
By Laura Studarus
Beck might get the award for best entrance into a indie-rock feud. Earlier this year, Radiohead recorded and released a song about World War One veteran Harry Patch, "Harry Patch (In Memory Of)." Mistaking the soldier for experimental composer Harry Partch, experimental musican Matthew Friedberger from the Fiery Furnaces scoffed, at Radiohead's apparent grab for his left-of-center audience. Now, Beck has done "the unthinkable." More

Song is Available on Band’s Website, With Proceeds Going to Charity
Aug 05, 2009
By Mark Redfern
Today Radiohead have made available on their website a brand new song entitled "Harry Patch (In Memory Of)," which was inspired a World War I veteran. Harry Patch passed away on July 25th at the ripe old age of 111 (and 38 days). At the time of his death, Patch was the oldest man in Europe, the last British male to be born in the 1890s, the third oldest man in the world, the last World War I veteran living in Europe, and the last trench veteran of World War I. Radiohead (with Caribou), The Prudential Center, Newark, NJ
Jun 08, 2012
By John Everhart
Radiohead have been progressing from a standard rock band (albeit a damn good one) circa 1995's The Bends and 1997's OK Computer, into something more silvery, elliptical, and downright challenging, beginning with 2000's epochal Kid A. However, their live shows still bring the rock action, to paraphrase Iggy Pop, and their astounding gig at Newark's Prudential Center was no exception. More
The King of Limbs
Ticker Tape/XL/TBD
Mar 07, 2011
By Laura Studarus
(We're running multiple reviews of Radiohead's The King of Limbs. Read one written by Jim Scott here and below is Laura Studarus' take on the album.) Radiohead, as we know it, is dead. The English quintet that blossomed from early '90s rock poster children to new century electro weirdos, has returned after four years in the studio with The King of Limbs, their eight full-length. But rather than shake up fans by delivering either a truly terrible album or an innovative collection (or even a terribly innovative collection), we’ve been given a standard workhorse album—eight songs of expert, paint-by-numbers Radioheadness. More
The King of Limbs
Ticker Tape/XL/TBD
Feb 25, 2011
By Jim Scott
The King of Limbs opens with a snappy, off-kilter drumbeat, call-and-response electronics, and then Thom Yorke singing, “Open your mouth wide.” One minute into “Bloom” and the band’s first new album in four years, and the expectations could not be higher. And then… the beat continues, the electronics pulse on, and Yorke occasionally dips his toes in with a few lines here and there. “Bloom” never reaches the astounding heights Radiohead has become known for, but then again, neither does The King of Limbs. Kid A: Special Collectors Edition
Capitol
Nov 03, 2009
By Jim Scott
Capitol gives Radiohead the reissue treatment on Kid A, Amnesiac, and Hail to the Thief, which should come as no surprise given the band's stature and the current state of the music industry. There's no question that this is a money grab, but whether it's one that benefits the consumer depends on what they've found in the vaults to bolster albums that most people already own and don't have much to gain from remastering or remixing.
